More Trains Than Brains in Texas

My band and I were playing in Vancouver and at a speakeasy after the gig a very tall, intense fellow introduced himself as Terry Wiens. He recited a poem about 24 Cars, then A Letter Home, More Hicks Than Sticks and others. He repeated them for me and I was amazed—he was like no other poet I had heard before.

In time, I brought him out to Ottawa to work on songs. We got about seven written, but Terry would always say “But have we written enough?” That was very encouraging. I wonder where he is now – I’d like to have another session with him.

On my A Letter Home (CD) there are four of our songs:
