I really enjoy doing solo gigs from time to time. As long as I am sure that it’s a listening audience, I’ll be there.
This could be in a hospital, a coffee house, a seniors’ home or especially a house concert. I end up doing everything from picking the songs to picking the guitar. It’s also a chance to sing those quieter ballads and love songs. It takes me back to singing in coffee houses.
It’s also important for me to get some audience participation (hopefully when asked) so I have backup singers and folks really concentrating on my guitar solos.
In the old days, I’d play in prisons, and most times they were also a good listening audience. Playing solo is fun as it reminds me of my early days, starting out on my own.
